TSKB signs Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), which is the most important international initiative aiming to support women's participation in the economy. TSKB, where half the employees are women, pledged to continue its support for this field in the international arena.

As one of the leading Turkish financial institutions in the field of sustainable banking, the Industrial Development Bank of Turkey (TSKB) continues to support gender equality and equal opportunity in the business world and international arena. TSKB has signed the ‘Women's Empowerment Principles’—the most important international initiative launched jointly by the UN Women (the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women) and the UN Global Compact.

Being one of the gender equality initiatives launched under the UN Global Compact, Women's Empowerment Principles platform aims to empower women in the international arena in all areas, from health and safety to training and development.

“Women's active participation in the economy is of vital importance for a high-quality and sustainable development.”

TSKB’s Executive Vice President Çiğdem İçel spoke at the ‘The Opening Bell Rings for Equality’ ceremony hosted by Borsa İstanbul in partnership with the UN Global Compact and UN Women and Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative (SSE) on March 6 in order to draw attention to the importance of March 8: International Women's Day and raise awareness on gender equality in various countries. Underlining the importance of ‘Women's Empowerment Principles’, İçel said: "As a bank which contributes to the country's industry and employment for 65 years, we believe that women's active participation in the economy is of vital importance for a high-quality and sustainable development. Integrating gender equality and equal opportunity principles into our human rights and sustainability policies, we take responsibility for embracing this concept in our business".

“Half of our employees and 46% of our executive staff are women.”

Pointing to the profile of the workforce of TSKB, İçel said: "Half of our employees and 46% of our executive staff are women. Taking gender equality and equal opportunity principles as the basis for our human resources strategy, we provide equal opportunity for all our employees without discrimination by gender."
