TSKB Sustainability Workshop Hosts 7 Universities in its 12th Year
TSKB's traditional Sustainability Workshop was organized for the 12th time this year.
During the event attended by students from 9 different departments from 7 universities, students met expert participants from the private sector. Through case studies, sustainability was discussed from various perspectives. The students who participated in the workshop were also entitled to receive a certificate from the "Sustainability Development Journey" training program included in TSKB's digital training and development platform GOO.
Hosted by TSKB (Industrial Development Bank of Türkiye), the 12th Sustainability Workshop was attended by 23 students from the faculties of business and economics as well as environment, industry, business administration, chemical engineering and international relations departments of 7 different universities this year.
The case studies introduced within the workshop aimed for the students to embrace the processes of creating the most optimal and beneficial action plans by reducing carbon emissions, taking into account the technological feasibility levels of investment alternatives in order to comply with the regulations, and identifying the paths that the company can follow for financing its investments.
Throughout the case studies where the participants evaluated the investments in line with the main environmental and social objectives, it was targeted to fulfill the principle of social inclusiveness and the alignment of investments with the themes of gender equality and women's employment. During the sustainability workshop, a multi-dimensional study was carried out under the risk and opportunity analysis, Environmental Social Governance (ESG) assessment and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) analysis for investments.
At the TSKB Sustainability Workshop, Bank executives shared their deep expertise with the students, while the students had the opportunity to examine the issues they dealt with from a holistic perspective, including environmental and social topics. The students also had the chance to participate in the "Sustainability Development Journey" certificate program included in the Bank's digital training and development platform GOO.. Prof. Esra Yüksel Acı from Marmara University, Çağla Eker Altınkulp, the Bank's Climate Change and Sustainability Management department manager, and Ersin Türkmen, the Bank’s Climate Change and Sustainability Management senior consultant were the jury members.
Stating that since 2012 they have been delighted to bring together the managers of the future with faculty members and private sector representatives, Özlem Bağdatlı, Executive Vice President of TSKB, said: "We have completed the 12th edition of our workshop, which is the first literacy program for students in the field of sustainability. We are going through a period in which climate-related risks have a significant impact on the private sector's activities and plans. In response to the ecosystem crisis our world is facing, we, as the Bank, are expanding our activities day by day with the vision of qualified development for a sustainable future, while also supporting efforts to raise individual awareness. Through our 12-year uninterrupted workshop, we have tried to show students the positive impact they can create in a sustainable future with real examples from the business world as well as basic knowledge. Thanks to the curiosity, excitement and mutual exchange of the students, we had a very nurturing and enjoyable workshop experience. I believe that this workshop, where climate-oriented risks and opportunities are analyzed and the social and economic aspects of sustainability are considered as a whole, has brought a multi-faceted perspective to our young friends."
