TSKB's traditional Sustainability Workshop was organized for the 13th time this year. During the event attended by students from 7 different departments from 9 universities, students met expert participants from the private sector. During the workshop, the concept of sustainability was addressed from various perspectives through specially developed case studies.

TSKB (Industrial Development Bank of Türkiye) continues to raise the awareness of university students, the decision makers of the future, on sustainability. The Bank hosted 21 students from the departments of environmental engineering, economics, business administration, industrial engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, political science and international relations of 9 universities at its headquarters in Istanbul during the 13th Sustainability Workshop organized in this framework.

Via the case study carried out within the workshop, students experienced a loan committee simulation. Under this simulation, projects were analyzed based on multidimensional criteria such as environmental, social and financial performance, resilience to climate risks, compliance with regulations and contribution to the strategic goals of the bank. The students defended their projects by discussing various points of view to convince the committee jury. Thus, the workshop aimed to ensure that students would not only develop a risk-based perspective but also adopt a holistic approach in loan assessment processes.

Çağla Eker Altınkulp, Head of Climate Change & Sustainability Management at TSKB, Senior Consultant Ersin Türkmen and Prof. Erdem Görgün from Istanbul Technical University took part in the workshop as jury members. Throughout the workshop, TSKB executives shared their expertise with the students, while the students had the opportunity to examine the issues they dealt with from a holistic perspective, including environmental and social topics. During the event, the students also participated in the "Sustainability Development Journey" certificate program included in the Bank's digital training and development platform called "Be a Partner with the Future". On behalf of the participants who completed the training program, seed balls were shot in hard-to-reach areas to contribute to afforestation and biodiversity.

Özlem Bağdatlı, Executive Vice President of TSKB, said: "We are happy to organize the 13th TSKB Sustainability Workshop this year, which is the first sustainability literacy program developed for students in Türkiye. We believe that it is the common responsibility of all citizens of the world to strive for the mitigation of climate-related risks that we encounter in different areas every day. The earlier we can gain this awareness, the more we can do for our world. We try to show students the concrete impact they can create with real examples from the business world as well as basic knowledge. I believe that this program, in which we address sustainability with its social dimension as well as its environmental and economic aspects, provides young people with a multidimensional perspective. I wish success to all students participating in our workshop along their education and career life."
