TSKB Honored with ‘Low Carbon Hero’ Award
During the 11th Istanbul Carbon Summit, TSKB was honored with the Low Carbon Hero award for its pioneering work in carbon management and sustainable finance through Türkiye Green Fund.
TSKB (Industrial Development Bank of Türkiye) was given the 'Low Carbon Hero' award at the 11th Istanbul Carbon Summit, which was hosted by Istanbul Technical University on 4-5 May 2026 and organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D) with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change as the main sponsor.
Offering an innovative model for financing green transformation in Türkiye through Türkiye Green Fund, TSKB received an award for its project titled Türkiye Green Fund for Green Transformation. Launched under the World Bank financing and the guarantee of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Türkiye Green Fund is positioned as one of the pioneering examples in Türkiye thanks to its blended finance structure that merges public and international funds with private capital. The fund creates a two-way impact by making equity investments to support existing green companies as well as companies in the transformation process operating in various sectors including but not limited to energy efficiency, renewable energy, recycling, carbon mitigation and sustainability technologies.
Türkiye Green Fund aims to reinforce access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises, while supporting inclusive development by prioritizing companies where women hold management positions or that increase women's employment. Designed in direct relation to carbon management, the fund contributes to Türkiye's transformation in line with the 2053 net-zero target by promoting low-carbon production, energy efficiency and sustainable business models. To that end, the fund aims to prevent 1,350 tons of CO₂ emissions annually through renewable energy projects and to reduce emission intensity by 10 percent in the invested companies.
The sessions of the Summit addressed carbon management, climate technologies and sustainable finance, highlighting the importance of innovative financing models and multi-stakeholder collaboration in the transition to a low carbon economy.
